What Youll Do as a School-Based SLP
As a school-based SLP, youll assess students with speech, language, and communication challenges, create individualized therapy plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions. Youll collaborate with educators, families, and IEP teams to support student success and ensure compliance with educational goals. Your work will play a vital role in helping students find their voice and thrive in both academic and social environments.
Licensing & Credentialing Requirements Texas
To work in Texas schools as an SLP, candidates must:

Hold a Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Possess a valid license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)

Obtain a Texas Educator Certificate through the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) to serve in public schools

ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) is preferred, but Clinical Fellows may be eligible with approved supervision
